One
of a series of 26 lithographs in T S Boys' 'London as it is',
often hailed as the zenith of the art of topographical lithography.
Guildhall Library holds both the line and tone proofs of these
lithographs, as well as a fine set of the finished plates,
reputedly hand-coloured by the artist himself. Sepia toned
sets originally sold for 4 guineas and coloured sets for 10
guineas. The plates became so popular that forgeries were
circulated. This delightful view of St James' Park shows Buckingham
Palace in the distance, still as Nash left it in 1836 with
the Marble Arch in front. (The arch was moved to Park Lane
in 1851).
