A view of front elevation of All Saints School, 84 Margaret Street, Fitzrovia. This photograph was taken from across the street and at a height. This former Parish School and Church House were built in 1868-70 by architect William Butterfield. They were built in red Fareham bricks. Decorative elements were added in blue, black, white brick. The school is to the right of the image, with classrooms stacked vertically- Adults in the basement, girls and infants on the upper ground and first floors, and boys on the second floor. The school completed the seminal group of buildings in Margaret Street, designed by Butterfield. These created a tough urban architecture of brick, with polychrome diaper decoration, and stone banding. The building became the London Fo Guang Shan Temple in 1992. It is a Buddhist temple, a monastery, and a venue for cultural events, meditation and devotional activities. This property is Grade II* listed, listing number 1273611.
