Description
A view of the main gothic arch entrance of All Saints School and Church House, 84 Margaret Street, Fitzrovia. This former Parish School and Church House were built in 1868-70 by architect William Butterfield. They were built in red Fareham bricks. Decorative elements were added in blue, black, white brick. These include polychrome diaper decoration, and stone banding. The school completed the seminal group of buildings in Margaret Street, designed by Butterfield. These created a tough urban architecture of brick. The building became the London Fo Guang Shan Temple in 1992. It is a Buddhist temple, a monastery, a venue for cultural events, meditation and devotional activities.
