Description
A view of a staircase at a grand house in use as a branch of National Provincial Bank at 6 Fitzroy Square, Fitzrovia. The treads are painted and the banister is supported on elegant wrought iron double posts. The stairs are viewed through a glazed, internal door which is open. Heavy service cables or pipes have been suspended from the ceiling to pass through a doorway beside the stairs. Part of a terrace designed by Robert and James Adam and dating from 1792-94, numbers 1, 1a and 2-8 Fitzroy Square and attached railings and lamp holders, were Grade I listed in 1954; listing number 1112991.
