Fire Brigade headquarters, Southwark Bridge Road, Southwark, looking north. The London Fire Brigade headquarters situated at 94a Southwark Bridge Road were built in 1878 and designed by Alfred Mott, the chief architect to the Brigade under the Metropolitan Board of Works. In 1911 the building was extended according to plans by the London County Council architect W. E. Brooks. The extension (as shown in this picture) consisted of five storeys plus an attic with dormer windows and a basement. This building is Grade II listed; listing number: 1385916. Adjacent to the fire station is a partial view of 96 Southwark Bridge Road the location of the Goldsmiths Arms. The landlord at that time was William E. Bailey.
