Description
Monastery Bonded Tea Warehouse at 40 Dock Street, Whitechapel. A nine-storey building, built in the early half of the nineteenth century, it was a sugar refinery built by French prisoners-of-war during the Napoleonic era, and was Grade II listed; listing number 1065212. By 1874 it became known as the Monastery Bonded Tea Warehouse. After a destructive fire in 1972 it was demolished c1980.
