Description
A funeral hearse (YX2771) approaches Cohen’s Stores on the corner of Mile End Road and White Horse Lane, Mile End Old Town. Cohen’s Stores is an imposing four-storey building occupying 262-264 Mile End Road and selling groceries, provisions and delicatessen. The windows are full of produce and there are signs advertising Lyons Cakes. A man in a flat cap and an overcoat is standing outside. A wholesale provisions and canned foods merchant was occupying 266-268 Mile End Road but there is a sign saying they moved in December 1956. None of these buildings survive today.
