Description
Staircase at 14 Fournier Street, Spitalfields. The stairs rise round an oblong well, the first stage beginning with an opulent flourish. The first step is returned back in a wide curve and the second step echoes the bold curtail of the handrail. The cut strings of the lower flights are decorated with flowers and foliage scrolls. These, with the turned and twisted balusters, and the fluted Ionic column newels, appear to be of oak. The dado with fielded panels matches the balustrade.
