Fronts of late nineteenth-century terraced houses at 17 and 19 Redmans Road, Stepney, taken looking north. On the left, number 17 has two storeys plus a lower ground floor and attic. It has six steps up to a modern front door with no fanlight above, wrought iron railings and stair rails. Number 19 has three storeys plus a lower ground floor and steps up to the door. The front door has six bevelled panels, a rectangular fanlight and a small canopy above the lintel. The frontage is rendered white and there is a stabilising metal bolt between the two first-floor windows. A low wall separates the two houses. There is an estate car parked outside number 17. Both houses are within the Stepney Green Conservation Area, created in 1973 and extended in 2008. Both have been renovated, with leaded sash windows replacing the modern mixture of styles in the photo. Both now have front doors with six panels and a rectangular fanlight above. The wall separating the houses has gone.
