Description
View of large archway at Shepherd's Place, looking south-east towards Tenter Street (later Tenter Ground) from White's Row, Spitalfields. A large group of people have lined up to be photographed, including a woman wearing a fur stole and broad rimmed hat, many boys and men wearing flat caps or hats and a girl in a torn apron. On the walls of the archway are various posters and a finger sign directing customers to the entrance of a tobacconist. A gas light sits above the sign. The arch and houses behind it no longer exist, having been destroyed during World War II.
