Description
A view of Goodman's Yard, Whitechapel, looking west from Mansell Street. Goodman's Yard can be seen to be cobbled, with various vehicles parked by adjacent plots of land, which are derelict due to severe bombing during World War II. The large plot of land on the left, running alongside the viaduct of the London & Blackwall Railway into Fenchurch Street Station, was a goods depot for the Great Eastern Railway. Goodman's Yard is now merely a four-lane street running east between Minories and Mansell Street, part of a one-way traffic system. An office block was built between the southern edge of the realigned Goodmans Yard and the railway viaduct, and this has latterly been converted into a Travelodge. Bus stands for the 'Heritage 15 Route' sit outside. The far end of the plot is now a beer garden for The Minories public house. The tower of the Port of London Authority building in Trinity Square can be seen in the distance, beyond a tall office block.
