Entrance hall of 7 Albemarle Street, Piccadilly. The building is Grade II listed, listing number 1357179, and was built for Sir John Norris in 1721. The entrance hall was in use as the reception for the Book Development Council Ltd. Straight ahead is a hall with a stone floor, with doors leading from it, one with a semicircular skylight above. Above this there appears to be a circular, painted classical frieze. To the left of this is a desk, apparently made from a decorated lead water tank, with a smooth black marble top. On this is a blotter and two inkwells. On pinboard behind, various leaflets are displayed and a notice board which lists the activities in the building, including a restaurant on the lower ground floor and exhibition and various libraries and reading rooms.
