Description
A very busy scene showing a crowd of visitors outside Buckingham Palace, The Mall, Westminster, taken from the Victoria Monument opposite. Police officers, including one on horseback, are controlling the crowd. A group of the Queen's Guards can be seen inside the gates to the palace. Traffic was able to pass directly in front of the palace when this picture was taken. This area has since been pedestrianised. Buckingham Palace, the official royal residence and administrative headquarters and one of the most recognisable landmarks and tourist attractions, is a Grade I listed building, listing number 1239087. The Victoria Memorial is Grade I listed, listing number 1273864.
