A view of the side elevation of Westminster Hospital in Broad Sanctuary, Westminster. The castellated and turreted building of four and five storeys plus basement opened in 1834 and was rebuilt in 1895. It closed in 1938. The building no longer exists and the site is now occupied by open space in front of the Queen Elizabeth II centre. The triangular building in the distance is Westminster Palace Hotel at the junction of Tothill Street and Victoria Street. It no longer exists and government offices occupy the site. Between the two, part of Methodist Central Hall Westminster can be seen. This still exists. The image shows several pedestrians as well as a horse and four-wheeled cart carrying sacks. Dating from 1905-1911, Methodist Central Hall Westminster was Grade II* listed in 1958; listing number 1264457.
