A view east along Broad Sanctuary, Westminster, towards Parliament Square, showing the Elizabeth Tower housing Big Ben towards the right. The castellated and turreted building on the left is Westminster Hospital, which opened in 1834 and was rebuilt in 1895. It closed in 1938. The building no longer exists and the site is now occupied by open space in front of the Queen Elizabeth II centre. At the far right, part of Westminster Abbey can be seen. In the distance is a block including 10-12 Bridge Street, which still exists. Many pedestrians and horse-drawn vehicles including buses and carriages, can be seen. Dating from about 1050-1065, the Abbey Church of Westminster was Grade I listed in 1958; listing number 1291494.
