A view of the front elevation of the former Public Record Office, Chancery Lane, Holborn. The Gothic Revival building was designed by Sir James Pennethorne and extended in 1891-96 by Sir John Taylor. In the 1990s the records were gradually moved to The National Archives in Kew. The Chancery Lane building was acquired by King's College London in 2001 and now houses its Maughan Library. Dating from 1853-55, the Public Record Office was Grade II* listed in 1998; listing number 1359155.
