Description
View of 46 Dean Street, Soho, on the corner with Old Compton Street. A four-storey brick corner building with ornamental gables and a tall chimney stack. At ground level there are shop windows with tiled surrounds. Above the shop entrance is the name 'Gamba' and above this, a large painting of a ballerina with a script sign repeating the name. This is the famous, Italian-owned manufacturer of ballet shoes. Next to it is a very busy tobacconist and newsagent with many products on display outside and beyond, the 'Patisserie Valerie', originally on the corner, but moved here after 1945. There is a modern sodium street light, a four-door Hillman Minx and various rushing pedestrians.
