An oblique view of the front elevations of 36-46 Dean Street, Soho, looking south towards Old Compton Street. In the foreground, the construction of numbers 36-38 as a single, brick building, with four storeys and mansard roof, is nearing completion. A bland building six-windows wide, it has a balcony with railings to the first four. There are wooden screens with lamps at ground level, the work being undertaken by 'Marshall-Andrew & Co. Ltd.'. Beyond is the projecting frontage of the 'Climax Cinema Club'; an 'adult' club showing 'blue' films, with a modern sodium street light outside. Next door is an Italian restaurant with a projecting electric sign with its name, 'Trattoria Da Otello' over an Italian flag background. It was named after noted restaurateur Otello Scipione. Another larger, vertical projecting sign in Chinese characters announces the presence of the 'Great Shanghai Chinese Restaurant' beyond. An Austin 1100, registration OYN 703F, proceeds south, behind a Ford Granada.
