Oblique view of the front elevation of Devereux Chambers, Devereux Court, The Temple. Dating from c1675, it forms part of New Court in the Temple and has subsequently been altered. In the middle of the image is a Victorian gas streetlamp, apparently with its pilot light working. At the far end the stone piers to the gateway into New Court and The Temple can be seen, with ornamental urns on the top. A hand painted sign with an arrow proclaims 'New Court' and 'Temple'. Beneath this there is a kiosk with adverts for 'Craven A' and 'Passing Clouds' cigarettes. Interestingly, on the 2018 Google Street View image there is a sandwich kiosk in the same position. On the right, at the end of the buildings, is the painted pub sign for 'The Devereux' pub. The Devereux Chambers building is Grade II listed, listing number 1356983.
