The War Office, Horse Guards Avenue, Westminster. This picture was taken from outside the Ministry of Defence and looking towards Whitehall. The War Office is on the opposite side of the street. It was designed in 1898 by William Young and completed in 1906 by his son, Clyde Young. The neo-Baroque style building housed the War Office from 1906 until its abolition in 1964. It was sold in 2016 by HM Government for more than £350 million, on a 250-year lease for conversion into a luxury hotel and residential apartments. There are pedestrians on the pavement and parked cars at the roadside.
