Description
Admiralty Citadel in Horse Guards Parade, Westminster, looking north. A uniformed man is walking towards Horse Guards Road in front of the Admiralty Citadel. The Citadel is a bomb-proof structure constructed in 1940 and 1941 as a stronghold in the event of enemy invasion, with underground tunnel links to Whitehall. The edge of St James's Park can be seen to the left of the picture, with pedestrians walking along the pavements on both sides of Horse Guards Road. Cars are parked in the parade.
