Description
Office in Room 91 of Cromwell House, Horse Guards Avenue, Westminster. The wood-panelled room has a fireplace, bookshelf, a desk and tables. From the early nineteenth century some of the Georgian town houses were occupied as government offices. Cromwell House no longer exists; it was replaced along with two other Georgian houses - Cadogan House and Pembroke House - by the neoclassical Grade I listed main building of The Ministry of Defence, built between 1938 and 1959. However, five rooms from the three houses were incorporated into the MoD main building as conference rooms known as the Historic Rooms.
