Description
View of Victoria Embankment, Westminster, from south bank looking northwest to Hungerford Bridge, Charing Cross Station and Whitehall Court. Tower cranes indicate the development of Charing Cross station. Moored at the Nelson Pier, now the London Eye Waterloo Pier, are various tourist craft and a commercial barge with palettes on the deck and a hydraulic arm lift on the bow. On the far bank are, from the bridge, the Restaurant Ship Hispaniola (originally launched in Glasgow in 1953 as MV Maid of Ashton) and the PS Tattershall Castle, built in 1934 as a ferry on the River Humber and used as a pub. Tourist coaches are parked on The Embankment.
