General view of Green's End, Woolwich, looking towards Beresford Square. In the foreground is on the right is the Duchess of Wellington public house. This was demolished in the mid 1980s along with the rest of the properties on this side of Green's End, up as far as Thomas Street, to make then new larger open space of General Gordon Square. Beyond the pub you can see the imposing grade II listed Equitable House which was built in 1935 as the new headquarters for the Woolwich Equitable building society. In the far distance is Beresford Square and the grade II listed Royal Arsenal Gatehouse which was built in 1828. Numerous pedestrians are visible although very little in the way of traffic.
