"The politcal coal heavers"; the Duke of Grafton, seated, addresses John Wilkes, "Would you be quiet, Mr W-. I could help you to a little Scotch cole". Wilkes, shaking an empty purse, replies "I had rather be frozen to death than purchase warmth by my country's ruin".
