A retropective map showing London as it was before the Great Fire of 1666. Illustrated with views of five buildings being the old buildings near the Temple gate in Fleet Street, Baynards Castle, west view of old St. Pauls and a view of Cheapside and the Cross before the fire. Below the map is a south prospect or panorama showing the City as it lay in ruins after the fire, the image is based on Hollar's view of London before the Great Fire. Left and right margins include some historical notes. The map was included in John Bowles, 'London describ'd' (published 1731) but was also available as a seperate publication, appearing in John Bowles sale catalogues in 1728 and 1753.
