This map was published as part of John Norden's, 'Speculum Britanniae' (1593). Title is in a scroll and both the Tudor Royal arms and the arms of the City of London are depicted. Side margins include the arms of the twelve principal City Livery Companies. The lower border contains a key to streets and buildings, this is the first map to provide an integral key. Norden's map is the best contemporary map to show the south bank theatres during Shakespeare's time, placing them in what is close to being their true position. Scale: 1":320 yards [1:11520] Extent: Clerkenwell - St. Kartherin's - Bankside - Gray's Inn.
