Description
This playbill features a production of William Shakespeare's play A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Princess's Theatre, Oxford Street, under the management of Charles Kean in August 1859. Kean, appearing here on the same bill in Wife's Secret by George Lovell, produced a number of sumptuous revivals of Shakespeare's plays which aimed for 'authenticity'. The playbill notes that Henry VIII would be performed on the last night of the season.
