Description
Detail from the woodcut map of London c1561 attributed to Ralph Agas, this edition published c1633, sheet 7; showing the area around Cripplegate and Cheapside. William Shakespeare became a lodger in a house on the corner of Silver Street (marked here as Syluer) and Muggle street in around 1603. The house was leased by Christopher Mountjoy, a manufacturer of headpieces, and his family.
