Description
Stained glass impaled marital arms of arms of William Cecil, 2nd Earl of Exeter, KG PC (1566 – 1640) and his wife Elizabeth Manners, the only child of Edward Manners, 3rd Earl of Rutland. Shield displayed beneath an earl’s coronet. Heraldic quarterings of husband on left are Cecil, Winston (incorrectly showing a lion that should be holding a green tree which has been omitted), Carleon, Eckington, Walcote, Cecil. On right although the coat of arms of Manners, the accompanying quarterings indicate this. Various errors by artist in accurately depicting the east window.
