View from the southern end of Old Broad Street towards 1 and 4 Threadneedle Street, City of London. 4 Threadneedle Street (previously occupied by the Bank of Australasia) is covered in scaffolding with a crane behind and being redeveloped at this time. 1 Threadneedle Street is also covered in scaffolding to the right of the image and was the original head office building of Eagle Star Insurance Company which occupied a corner plot adjacent to Royal Exchange Avenue. It was subsequently rebuilt by Eagle Star in brutalist style in 1968 and again in 1992. On the left is the corner of the National Westminster Bank, 51-53 Threadneedle Street, City of London. Built between 1922 and 1936 by Mewes and Davis, it was Grade II listed in 1971; listing number 1358901.
