Description
Interior of the highly ornate Livery Hall of Drapers' Hall, City of London. The photo predates the alteration of the hall in the early-twentieth century. Approximately half of the gilded Baroque-style plasterwork ceiling can be seen along with stained glass windows and a number of the Company's royal portraits can be seen hanging on the walls between marble columns. Both the stained glass windows and the ceiling were replaced in the early-twentieth century when the hall was altered to a Classical style. The ceiling was replaced with panels painted with Shakespearean scenes by Herbert Draper between 1903 and 1910.
