Description
View of St. Margaret's House, 21 Old Ford Road, Bethnal Green from Victoria Park Square, looking north. St Margaret's House was the home of the Bethnal Green Ladies Committee formally opened in 1889. Pioneering work included a Children's Country Holiday Fund, the Metropolitan Association for Befriending Young Servants, visits to hospitals and workhouses, organising sick and relief funds, work for mothers and children and running clubs for girls. St. Margaret's House is Grade II listed, listing number 1065102. This building still exists with some remodelling of the facade removing the projecting belt cornice leaving a flat rather bland front elevation.
