View of Dunbridge Street, Bethnal Green, looking west from Vallance Road. On the right is the famous Repton Boxing Club. Sited in an old Victorian bathhouse it was founded in 1884 as the Repton Boys Club by the Repton College in Derbyshire. It came to offer many activities for working class youth, including boxing. Today, the Repton Boxing Club is considered to be the oldest boxing club in the country, and one of the most renowned. Former members of the club include John H. Stracey, Maurice Hope, Sylvester Mittee, and Audley Harrison. Incidentally, the Kray twins, talented boxers, were also both 'graduates' of the Club as well.
