Description
View of 35-39 Redcross Street, City of London, showing the London & Midland Bank Limited at numbers 38-39, and James Rowley & Sons Ltd merchants at numbers 35-37. Men are standing still and posing for the picture, with horse-drawn carts on the road. Redcross Street no longer exists; it used to run from what is now the Beech Street/ Golden Lane junction to the south, to the church of St Giles Cripplegate in Fore Street. Like the surrounding area, it was heavily bombed in December 1940 and eventually demolished for the construction of Barbican Centre.
