Description
Side view of Grade II listed semi-detached houses at 13-30 Albion Square, Haggerston, from the west. Two storeys over semi-basements, with portico entrances. Planned by William Middleton who commissioned the building of the square in 1844 as Hackney was being developed. In 1898 the rectangular central garden was saved from dereliction by Lady de Saumarez, who bought it and established a grant with local authorities to preserve green spaces in London. Tower of Queensbridge Road Primary School visible in the background.
