A view of an eighteeth-century Georgian marble fireplace in the ground-floor back room of the house at 20 Queen Square, Holborn, which was occupied by the Chalfont House Settlement. The piers flanking the iron grate which contains wood are in the form of Egyptian women. The panels above the grate feature foliage patterns. The base of the iron grate has star decorations, and two metal balls surmount the piers at the side of the grate. Fire pokers and a shovel can be seen on the marble hearth. Fire ash can be seen at the back of the hearth. A brass rail borders the hearth. On the flat mantlepiece are three small plants, and the mirror above reflects a besuited man talking to another, who is obscured by the plant. Arts and Crafts style inspired wallpaper can be seen on the wall reflected in the mirror. The house no longer exists; part of The President Hotel, Guildford Street, Holborn now sits on the site.
