Description
View of front elevations of dilapidated Jane Davis Almshouses, 65-79 Queen's Head Street, Islington. The eight almshouses were created and endowed in 1794 by Jane Davis, widow of John Davis, carpenter, according to the terms of his will. They housed Anglican married couples or widows over the age of 50. In 1964 the buildings were sold, proceeds invested and the income used to help the poor in Islington. Queen's Head Street used to be known as Queen's Head Lane and even earlier, Queen's Row.
