View of 209 Coldharbour Lane, Loughborough Junction (formerly Camberwell Lane). Coldharbour Lane runs east-west for a mile from Brixton to Camberwell. The name comes from Coldharbour farm, on whose land it was built. The image shows a two-storey corner building with attics named the Imperial Stores. It advertises Usher's Ales, including Imperial Stout, Court Luncheon Ale, and Porter. The window displays bottles and a man is standing in the doorway. To the left is a passageway that leads down the side of the railway viaduct leading south from Loughborough Junction Station towards Herne Hill Station, operated by the London, Chatham and Dover Railway. On the gatepost is a poster for the Empress Theatre Brixton, featuring Kate Cutler a well-known actress and singer in musical comedies, and Daisy Jerome another well-known Music Hall actress. Although much altered, the building remains and is now residential.
