Description
A view of the rear of Isle House at 1 Cold Harbour on the Isle of Dogs in London Docklands. The house was designed for the West India Dock Company by its principal engineer, Sir John Rennie, as a residence for its dockmasters and built in 1825-26. Two storeys high with a basement, the building has full height bow windows and wide over-hanging eaves. The lower bay windows have been encased in a partially glazed, timber conservatory which has a short flight of wooden steps leading down to an unkempt garden. A folded sack hangs over iron railings. On the far left, a large barrel and a garden fork lie near an arched side-alleyway. Isle House is Grade II listed, listing number 1065222.
