General view of Preston's Road, Poplar, looking south towards the bridge over the Blackwall entrance lock to the West India Docks. The street is cobbled and along both sides of the road are the high boundary walls of the docks with wooden gated entrances. Groups of men, some in suits, neck ties and hats walk towards the photographer, others wear jackets and flat caps and several are pushing or riding bicycles. Two horse drawn, four-wheel wagons travel in opposite directions, one is a covered wagon with two boys perched at the rear. In the centre of the road a Dennis 4-ton double deck omnibus with rear stair is visible. On the right, behind the dock wall, are mature trees in the grounds of the Bridge House Dock Masters residence.
