Front elevations of derelict terraced houses at 213-223 Old Ford Road, Poplar, looking north-west. Nearest the camera on the right is a partial view of a warehouse belonging to J.W. & T.A.Smith Imperial Chemical Colour Works. In the centre is Sayers Cottages, a terrace of three two-storey, brick built houses at 219-223 Old Ford Road. The houses are three windows wide with a central door. The entrance door and ground floor windows have stone pediments, the upper windows have cast iron window box retainers and there is a cornice running along the top of the terrace. The buildings are derelict and number 223 appears to be just a shell without a roof, possibly due to bomb damage. Numbers 215-217 were other dwellings that have already been demolished. Lastly the farthest building on the right, next to the Hertford Union Canal at 213 Old Ford Road, is also derelict and was the Ye Old Victory public house, last run by Arthur Victor Larkins before it closed. These buildings no longer exist and have been replaced with Bridgeside Wharf residential housing and Haslers Wharf residential housing.
