View of Westferry Road, Isle of Dogs, looking south. On the left is the City Arms public house at 1 West Ferry Road, which had its origins in 1811 and was re-built in 1937. Adjacent World War II bomb damage site and Victorian three-storey house at number 17 which was occupied by the manager of the neighbouring Beecham Foods Ltd works at numbers 19-23; Beecham Foods took over C. and E. Morton Jam manufacturers in the 1950s. The works' tall chimney is behind the manager's house. Further down the road is the Blacksmith's Arms public house at number 25 on the corner of Cuba Street. Parked cars, Routemaster buses, street lamp posts and a pedestrian are in view. The City Arms was demolished in 2012 and a glass-fronted office block put up in its place. The Blacksmiths Arms later became an Indian-Bangladeshi restaurant called Aniseed.
