View of the front elevation of the Beecham Foods Ltd works at 19-23 Westferry Road, Isle of Dogs. Beecham Foods Ltd took over C. and E. Morton Ltd jam manufacturers in the 1950s. C. and E. Morton which opened on the Westferry Road site in 1872 was at one time the largest employer on the Isle of Dogs. Part of the name Morton is visible on the opened double wooden gates. Through the gate is the yard with vehicles and workers. World War II bomb damage is visible on the right of the yard. Above the works is a tall chimney and on the brick boundary wall is the fading outline of the painted letters E.W.S. On left is number 17 Westferry Road, a three-storey Victorian house which was occupied by the works manager. The two and three-storey works buildings likely date from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The works was later demolished and apartment buildings and surrounding grounds were built on the site in 2008.
