Description
View of front elevations of five-storey terraced townhouses at 17-23 Bentinck Street, Marylebone. Plain stucco surrounds at ground floor. Numbers 19-20 have a rounded arches and numbers 18-17 have pediments with pillared porch and fanlight windows. Richard John Bingham, 7th Earl of Lucan ‘Lord Lucan’ was born at number 19 on 18 December 1934. Known for his alleged involvement in the murder of his children's nanny Sarah Rivett and the attack on his wife Lady Veronica Duncan, he disappeared after being suspected of murder on 8 November 1974, and was declared dead on 3 February 2016. Sir James MacKenzie F.R.S. (1853-1925), a Scottish cardiologist who was a pioneer in the study of cardiac arrhythmias lived and worked at number 17 in 1907-11. Parked cars. Woman with shopping bag.
