Title
Building in Marylebone Lane
Description
A view of the front elevation of 94 Marylebone Lane, Marylebone, on the corner of Bentinck Mews. Four-storey, brick building, probably built in the early-nineteenth century with later alterations. Two sash windows on the second, third and fourth storeys above the ground-floor shop front, occupied by B. J. Rackham, an off licence. The window displays bottles of wine and beer. There is a large retractable sun shade above the shop front. A sign affixed to iron railings beside the shop reads: 'Whitbread', and has the Whitbread Brewery logo. A dustbin and some rubbish are in front of the sign. Across Bentinck Mews is 100 Marylebone Lane (formerly numbers 96-102), built 1861-62 for St James’s Roman Catholic Schools, and rebuilt 1901-02 as offices and workrooms. The upper storeys have since been remodelled but the ground-floor facade survives. At right, 90-92 Marylebone Lane, a block of flats built 1860s.
