Title
Shops in Mile End Road
Description
A street scene featuring shops at 246-232 Mile End Road, Stepney, opposite Stepney Green tube station. Number 246 is no more and has been replaced by hoardings advertising ‘Thirst Things First Cool Harp’ and ‘You get more out of life with Kensitas’. The door is open at 244, the Classic restaurant. Alan’s radio and televisions at 246 has closed down. The building with Charles Benabo Assessors & Surveyors, established 1870, looks bombed out. A man with a newspaper is walking past other boarded up houses along the road. None of these buildings survive.
