Late 15th/early 16th century lawyer, social philosopher, author, statesman and noted Renaissance humanist. A councillor to Henry VIII, and Lord High Chancellor of England from October 1529 to 16 May 1532 he also wrote 'Utopia', published in 1516, about the political system of an imaginary ideal island nation.
