View of Stockwell Green
Description
View of Grade II listed early nineteenth-century three-storey houses with basements in Stockwell Green, Stockwell, on the south side. Listing numbers 1064958 (numbers 31-32) and 1337035 (numbers 28-30). The area in front of the buildings, formerly the 'Green' of Stockwell Green, is enclosed with broken fencing, and the posts display advertisements for the News of the World. The 'Green' area was built upon in the late nineteenth century after a dispute as to the rights of the freeholder, a Mr Honey, to appropriate the land for building purposes. This is now part of Lambeth Council's Stockwell Green Conservation Area.
