Description
Front elevation of 1-9 Argyll Street, St James' Westminster, looking south-east. Number 8, with a blue plaque to Washington Irving, the American writer, is the premises of The Red Piper video cafe. Number 7 is the London Palladium theatre; the pedimented building dates from 1910 and is Grade II* listed, listing number 1210130. The corner office block with a polished granite facade at the far end at numbers 1-4 is Palladium House, formerly known as Ideal House; it dates from 1928-35 and is Grade II listed, listing number 1357168. Cars and vans driving past and parked along the road include a Ford Transit motor van and a Mercedes Benz W123. Pedestrians walk past.
